A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) helps the nurse in patient care. They are in the front lines of patient care interacting on a one on one basis with the patient. There are a lot of benefits when you become a certified nursing assistant. Being a CNA might not be the most glorious job in the nursing profession but there are a lot of rewards. The first most visible reward would be the profession itself.

This type of profession does not require a college diploma but would only require a GED or a high school diploma with an addition that you would need to have CNA certification training and will need to take the CNA certification exam.

With a short six to twelve weeks of training the potential salary of a CNA is worthwhile. Another benefit is that some people use becoming as a stepping stone to becoming a Registered Nurse since the coursework taken could be taken into credit when taking a nursing class.

Some institutions even offer free CNA training to people. You would just need to check with your local/State Department of Health on the requirements of being a CNA and check which institution meets those requirements.
